Susan Coons is Assistant Director of the UC Irvine Environment Institute and coordinates research, education, and community engagement programs at the Institute. Prior to joining UCI in 2008, she spent 25 years in environmental consulting at Arthur D. Little, Inc., and ICF Consulting, Inc. Her areas of expertise include environmental management, exposure/risk assessment, soil and ground water remedial investigation, and environmental sustainability. Ms. Coons is co-founder of Women’s Initiative for a Sustainable Earth (WISE), an initiative aimed at inspiring women to lead bold initiatives, act collaboratively, and create pivotal action to restore a sustainable earth. She currently serves on the City of Irvine Green Ribbon Environmental Committee and on the Board of Directors of EarthMatters, Inc., a 501(c)3 corporation. Ms. Coons holds an A.B. in Chemistry from Bowdoin College.
